Vagrants Of Venice / I viandanti di Venezia
[Stevens, Crosby, League, Willis]
Book born vagrants fishing
Endless, aimless in the
Flooded palace where the
King of Venice used to lie
Lonely woman plants a
Roof top garden from the
Soil that's blown in and the
Seeds that washed up on the tides
Two young orphans burning
Ancient paintings and
Victorian tables just to
Keep from freezing in the night
They were born here knowing
Nothing other than the
Tales of mad men swearing
And before them used to fly
All very peaceful now
They have forgotten how
Greed used to drive us to fight
And to climb
Wild people
Nearly feral
Living on what they can find
Just the fish and the fisherman
Mankind and time
Fearful vagrants fashion
Tools to save them from the
Greed-born slavers that come
Swift on dark sails in the night
Sometimes tyrants passing
Hungry silence are there
No more orphans in their
Flooded world stripped bone dry
Perched like monkeys in the
Triple canopy of a
Crumbling jungle watching
Remnants of another world sail by
All very quiet now
They have forgotten how
Music used to live here
To dance in the minds
Wild people
Nearly feral
Living on what they can find
Just the fish and the fisherman
Mankind, and time

Viandanti usciti da un libro pescano
Senza fine, senza meta nel
Palazzo allagato dove
Giaceva il re di Venezia
Una donna sola coltiva un
Giardino sul tetto con il
Terreno che il vento soffia dentro e
Con i semi portati dalle maree
Due giovani orfani bruciano
Antichi dipinti e
Tavoli vittoriani per
Non congelare durante la notte
Sono nati qui senza conoscere
Nient’altro tranne i
Racconti di uomini pazzi che imprecavano
E volavano prima di loro
È tutto molto tranquillo adesso
Hanno dimenticato
Che l'avidità ci spingeva a combattere
E ad arrampicarci
Gente selvaggia
Quasi feroce
A volte i tiranni cadono
Il silenzio affamato rimane
Non ci sono più orfani nel loro
Mondo allagato e spogliato fino alle ossa
Appollaiati come scimmie nella
Triplice coltre di una
Giungla in rovina a guardare
I resti di un altro mondo che se ne va
È tutto molto tranquillo adesso
Hanno dimenticato
Che la musica viveva qui
E danzava nelle nostre menti
Gente selvaggia
Quasi feroce
Che si nutre di ciò che riesce a trovare
C’è solo il pesce e il pescatore
L'umanità e il tempo
